What this site collects

HeatPumpPayback has no accounts, no sign-up forms and no newsletter, and it does not ask for personal information to show you a city's estimate. The city search runs in your browser. Like almost every website, the hosting provider, Firebase Hosting (Google), automatically records standard request logs, such as IP address, browser type, the page requested and the time, which are used for security and to keep the site running.

Cookies and advertising

This site shows ads served by Google AdSense. Third-party vendors, including Google, use cookies to serve ads based on a user's prior visits to this website or other websites. Google's use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads to you based on your visit to this site and/or other sites on the Internet. Other third-party vendors and ad networks may also serve ads on this site and use cookies or similar technologies for the same purpose.

You can opt out of personalised advertising in Google's Ads Settings. You can also opt out of some third-party vendors' use of cookies for personalised advertising at www.aboutads.info. You can also block or delete cookies in your browser settings; ads will still appear, but they will be less relevant.

Data sources are not data about you

Climate and energy-price figures come from NOAA and the US Energy Information Administration, both public agencies. No personal data is exchanged with them. HeatPumpPayback does not sell personal information.

Your rights and choices

Depending on where you live, laws such as the EU and UK GDPR, California's CCPA/CPRA and similar laws in other US states and Canadian provinces give you rights over personal information, such as the right to know what is held about you, to have it deleted, and to opt out of its sale or sharing for advertising. To make a request about anything HeatPumpPayback itself holds, which is limited to the hosting logs described above, email hello@heatpumppayback.com. For advertising data collected by Google through its cookies, use the Google Ads Settings link above or Google's own privacy tools.

Children

This site is not directed at children under 13 and does not knowingly collect personal information from them.
